Jan. 15, 1919 — Boston Molasses Disaster: A large molasses tank in Boston bursts. A wave of molasses rushes through the streets, killing 21 people and injuring 150 others.

Jan. 15, 1967 — The Green Bay Packers of the National Football League defeate the Kansas City Chiefs of the American Football League 35-10 in the first Super Bowl.

Jan. 13, 1982 — Just after takeoff from Washington's National Airport, an Air Florida 737 crashes into the 14th Street Bridge and falls into the Potomac River, killing 78 people.
