Anniversary of Rwandan genocide: Rebuilding a nation on the foundation of forgiveness

Laura Waters Hinson is a documentary filmmaker. She won a Student Academy Award in 2008 for her film As We Forgive, which shows the story of two Rwanda women struggling to forgive the men who killed their families in the 1994 Rwandan genocide. 

She is working on two more documentaries. Mama Rwanda tells the story of two mothers building businesses in post-genocide Rwanda. She hopes to release it in 2014. Her other documentary, Dog Days, is a story of hot dog vendors and the American Dream. It is slated for release this year.

Retired Col. Lee Ellis was an Air Force pilot during the Vietnam War. He was shot down by the North Vietnamese on November 7, 1967, and imprisoned in the Hanoi Hilton, where hundreds more Prisoners of War were also held.
