December mini-series: 'Favorite Songs of Christmas'
Christmas oyster-stuffing recipe
This week: WORLD News Group book and lifestyle editor Susan Olasky talks about her childhood memories of Christmas music by Andy Williams, including "The Christmas Song." TW&E listener Troy Basset tells us about the original version of "Babe in the Straw" by The Choir. It was released on the 1995 album Noel.
Tell us about your favorite Christmas music, and you could be featured on our TW&E feature 'Favorite Songs of Christmas' series. Email us at Christmas@worldandeverything.com. Be sure to include your name, the city or town where you live, and how you heard about our program.
Celebrate the season with Susan Olasky's Christmas oyster-stuffing recipe:
Oyster Dressing or Stuffing
1/2 box saltines (large box)
1 pint fresh oysters and juice
2 T butter or margarine, melted
Crush saltines quite small.
Add oysters, one at a time.
Mix in so that they don't cling together in a clump.
Sprinkle some oyster juice over—not too much as it shouldn't get soggy.
Mix melted butter in (recipe actually says oleo)
It should feel a little moist and cling together a little bit.
Don't salt the inside of the turkey because of the salt in the crackers.
