Facing deep divisions, the United Methodist Church gathers for its quadrennial meeting

Learn more about the settlement between Truro Anglican Church and the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. Truro must turn over its current buildings and property to The Episcopal Church and vacate the premises by June 2013.

TW&E Series: Notable Speeches Past and Present

In this segment, we feature an address by Dr. Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission. He spoke at a March 28 forum on the North Carolina marriage amendment.

The amendment, which says that "[m]arriage between one man and one woman [will be] the only domestic legal union" recognized in North Carolina, will go before voters on May 8.

The Marriage Amendment Forum was held at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C.

NOTE: On April 18, the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission appointed an ad hoc committee to investigate recent allegations of plagiarism made against Richard Land in connection with his weekly radio program, Richard Land Live. Read the Executive Committee's statement here.

Also, on April 16, Dr. Land issued a letter of apology for recent comments he made on his radio program about the Trayvon Martin case.
