States debate tighter restrictions on abortion

On Friday, the Texas Senate debated a bill that would ban most abortions after 20 weeks and would require abortion facilities, among other things, to meet the health and safety standards of medical outpatient surgical facilities.

WORLD News Group reporter Caroline Leal was in Austin Monday when pro-lifers held a rally to encourage lawmakers to approve the bill. For more, read her article “Fighting for their lives.”

In North Carolina, the state Senate passed a similar bill last week. It moved to the House, where it was passed Thursday. The modified bill will go back to the Senate for approval before heading to the desk of Gov. Pat McCrory.

For more, read “N.C. House passes new abortion measure,” written by Andrew Branch.
