Listening In, hosted by Warren Cole Smith, is a conversational program featuring newsmakers and thought leaders that explores the depths of some of the most interesting topics of our day.
“Our goal is to explore topics as thoughtfully as possible,” said WORLD Radio Executive Producer Nick Eicher. “It’s more like NPR’s Fresh Air or public television’s Charlie Rose, but with an objective Christian perspective.”
Listening In airs each Friday. The program is available to radio stations via FTP download. For technical details, contact: Jonathan Bailie at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A conversation with Pastor Rick Warren
With the exception of Billy Graham, it’s likely that Pastor Rick Warren is the best-known religious leader in America. His book “The Purpose Driven Life” sold an astonishing 30-million copies. The church he founded 30 years ago and still pastors, Saddleback Church, has more than 20,000 people in worship each Sunday. But he has also faced his share of controversy and heartbreak. Last year, his son Matthew, who had a long history of mental illness, committed suicide. In today's episode, Warren Cole Smith visits with Rick Warren at Saddleback Church and had a candid, wide-ranging conversation about this painful episode in his life, and about his 30-year tenure as pastor of one of the most influential churches in America.
