The National Association of Evangelicals is doing today what it should be doing: rallying evangelicals to support pro-life positions. A note this morning from NAE President Leith Anderson directs attention to three pro-life amendments to the Budget Resolution, and asks for calls to senators through the Capitol Switchboard (202-224-3121). Some background on this last item: The United States is unusual in not restricting sex-selection through law. Four studies from liberal academic institutions—the University of California-Berkeley, the University of Texas, the University of Connecticut, and Columbia University—show sex-selection abortion taking place in the United States. The Columbia report in 2008 found “strong son bias” within some American communities, as revealed in census data, and “clear evidence of sex-selection, most likely at the prenatal stage.”

WORLD last year criticized the NAE for promoting activities most evangelicals oppose.
