Ridiculous, pro-life, late-night comedy

Late-night comedian Conan O’Brien made an inadvertent pro-life statement last month in a sketch that had rapper Kanye West and reality star Kim Kardashian’s unborn baby escaping the womb (placenta in tow) to get away from his or her crazy parents.

The sketch shows the baby hot wiring a cop car, causing a car chase, hopping onto a mini motorcycle, and flying a blimp into O’Brien’s show. Even though O’Brien admits it’s the “stupidest thing we’ve done in a long time,” it does depict the unborn child as a feisty—albeit tiny—human, rather than a jumble of cells.

In one telling scene (in Part 2), the baby is running from the police and accidentally approaches a Planned Parenthood facility, at which point the baby slowly backs away, while O’Brien comments “Oh, it’s awkward …” The audience laughs, and it’s clear that Planned Parenthood is the one place where unborn babies aren’t safe.
