Welcome to WORLD Magazine's digital edition for the iPad. Below is a quick guide to reading, interacting, and having the most fun with our app. Enjoy!
Reading
To navigate from page to page and story to story, swipe horizontally—just as you would a print magazine.
To-may-to, to-mah-to: whether you prefer to hold the iPad vertically or horizontally, you can rotate to view pages in either orientation.
Navigation
cover From anywhere in the magazine, tap the cover icon to jump back to the front.
getting started Tap the screen once and the navigation bar appears at the bottom. Tap again to hide. You'll need to do this every time you want to access the navigation tools.
page viewer Tapping this icon brings up a thumbnail overview of the magazine. Each image shows the first page of a story. Swipe horizontally to browse through the entire issue. You can also navigate by touching and dragging the slider button below the images. Touch a thumbnail image to jump to any story.
contents Tap this icon to jump to the table of contents. Touch an image or headline to jump to an article.
subsection links At the top of pages in each of the Departments, tap a subsection title to jump from one subsection to another. Tap highlighted text in a story to jump to another article.
newsfeed Tap this icon to read up-to-the-minute news stories from our streamlined browser.
Coming soon: library, store, and account View your downloaded issues in the library; purchase issues or subscribe in the in-app store; view and edit your account settings at any time.
Multimedia
video Touch the play button to view. You must be connected to the internet in order to watch videos. Hint: turn the iPad horizontally for the best video view. Touch the fullscreen button in lower right to enlarge; tap "Done" when finished.
hotspots These interactive buttons appear throughout the magazine in various shapes and sizes, such as numbers, symbols, and thumbnail images. Touch a hotspot to view additional content.
scrollable areas Follow the cues to scroll vertically or horizontally.
slideshows Swipe to see a gallery of more images; touch to view in full screen; and touch the screen again to go back to the regular page view. Hint: See our cartoons like never before.
web links Tap a link to view online content in-app; touch the close button to return to the magazine page.
audio Touch the audio button to listen to a recording.
