Daniel of the Year

Since 1998, WORLD Magazine has selected a Daniel of the Year-a very different individual from Time magazine's typically power-grasping Man of the Year (now Person of the Year). Over the years we've had some well-known Daniels and some little-known ones, but in all cases their faith in God gave them the strength to stand up against tyrants who tried to put themselves in God's place. That's what made them Daniels: They exhibited bravery in defense of God's authority, not their own autonomy.

China's Persecuted Christians

Remember those who are in prison: It’s a new day for China’s Communist leadership, but not for the dissidents the government imprisons. They linger in remote jails, beaten, forgotten, and cut off from work, fellowship, friends, and family. WORLD’s 2012 Daniels of the Year are these outspoken Chinese Christians and their long-suffering loved ones.
