Barry Larkin lasted in Cincinnati longer than controversial owner Marge Schott did, but he'll finish up his career somewhere else. The shortstop wants to play just one more season, but the Reds only offered the former National League MVP $500,000 for next season-just over the league minimum. During Mr. Larkin's 18-year career with his hometown team, he routinely accepted below-market contracts so he could stay in Cincinnati. "I'm really disheartened," he said. "This contract showed me the door, basically."

Who was the most productive pitcher over 40 this season? Think Roger Clemens or Randy Johnson? Think again. At age 40, Jamie Moyer picked up his 20th win for Seattle in his final start. The southpaw has been highly productive for the Mariners for close to a decade, with an arsenal of junky curveballs that still have lefties and righties in the American League bamboozled.
