The Free Magyar Reformed Church in Staten Island, N.Y., was built in 1883 as St. Peter’s German Evangelical Church. Hungarian immigrants bought the building and gave it its current name in 1919. A grant from The New York Landmarks Conservancy helped the church’s eight members last year repair damage caused by Hurricane Sandy.
