Canned defense 

When you’re trying to defend your convenience store against armed robbers, sometimes you must improvise. A store owner in Ramsbottom, U.K., bested a pair of masked robbers—one armed with a gun—on Jan. 12. Instead of passively complying with the thieves’ demands, the unidentified owner began hurling cans of beer at the perpetrators. The volley of lager proved effective: The thieves fled the scene.
