Frank Mazzotti, a University of Florida wildlife professor, on the battle for supremacy in the Florida Everglades food chain between native alligators and non-native pythons (released into the Everglades by pet owners). Wildlife researchers last week found a 13-foot python that had burst open after trying to eat a six-foot alligator whole, killing both animals.
