Rick Franklin, of Davie County, N.C., on how his naming of the road on which he lives "Getta Way" doesn't mean he is anti-social. Other roads in Davie County are named "Staya Way," "Keepa Way," and "Outatha Way." Because the roads are private, property owners along the road have naming rights.

If you are offended, don't wave back when they wave to you.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, after some Italian Americans protested his invitation to two cast members from the HBO show The Sopranos to march in this week's Columbus Day Parade. Those opposing the invitation say the show negatively stereotypes Italian Americans.

Adam Mueller, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Student Association President, after payments of the school's $3,200 tuition were erroneously listed as charges to Taco Bell on some credit card statements.

It gives us the idea that they understand what we do around here.

Linda Gibbs, assistant to Denver Judge Robert Hyatt, after 20 Denver judges, including Mr. Hyatt, donated $600 each toward a fund to support court workers who were furloughed for three days without pay. The state ordered the furloughs of bailiffs, clerks, and other workers to help ease budget problems.
