Blatant hypocrisy.

The British development charity Oxfam's characterization, in a report on world poverty, of European Union efforts to pose as a defender of poor nations. The report notes that EU sugar tariffs and subsidies keep poor sugar growers in developing nations from selling in European markets. "European consumers and taxpayers are paying to destroy livelihoods in some of the world's poorest countries," the report argues. Oxfam also criticizes U.S. government sugar subsidies.
