Playing or watching?

"Playing or watching?" Continued...

Issue: "China: Caesar’s seminary," Jan. 27, 2001

Jesus died on a cross. He did not watch himself dying on a cross. As I recall, he was looking at Mary and John, making arrangements for the care of his mother. He was straining to see the thief by his side, to proffer the words of life one final time before he gave up his spirit. And he did it all conscious of one thing, that he is no fool who passes up the illusory violins of earth for the celestial choruses of heaven.
